One good thing I can say about Alabama. Sure, the muffler shop can't remove your cat because they can be fined. However, if you want to do it yourself, hack that thing off

I don't have one on mine either and don't even get a CEL. Gotta fool the PCM, and in 2000, those things are dumb.

Depending on the state you do not need to have a cat. It just needs to pass inspections. Most of the time they don't look at that...

I know alot of states don't do a sniffer test, but I thought CEL's would keep you from passing inspections.

Yes, it's possilbe to pass without it. Regardless if you have emissions or not, it's still a federal offense...

2 options for that. One is to buy the things you can plug into your o2 sensors that will prevent a CEL.

The second is to disconnect the battery before you go for inspections and hope the light doesn't come back on before you get there lol.

Or you can just smash all the honey comb out of it and put it back on. Its now hollow but believe it or not it will still pass emissions.

And to the OP... This is covered allllll the time. Search for it and a million things will come up. But a superchips, cai, and exhaust are good starts. But the 3.9 is a dog no matter what.

maybe where you live but where i live no one really cares what exhaust your running, its not like a cop will pull u over and know just from the sound i'm running no cat, i've seen diesels running no cat or muffler driving in front of a cop just billowing black smoke and the cop does nothing

I'm kind of suprised that nobody is doing the same thing I am to avoid CEL's with no cat. I mean, after all, its free...
