its not a matter of 'will it work', but rather, do you have the know-how to make it work?

i would guess, however, that the ram axle is a bit wider than you want.

what year is the 1500? I sense ABS problems in your future....unless you get lucky with the right ABS/non ABS combination...

the reason im doing all this is so i could get a bigger truck they dont make a suspension lift for a 2003 4x4 dakota so the solid axle swap is the next best bet ant the axle would be better to have on it im orginal looking for 3/4 ton axles or 1 tons to put underneath it

Things to look out for

1) Which side is the differential on, does it match your transfer case

2)Alot of dodges came with that split axleshaft set up. It's like locking hubs but instead one of the axleshafts is two separate pieces that are electronically separated.

I would recommend scouting out a late 70s F150 and get the axle out of it. It should fit neatly under a Dakota, came with a drivers side differential(like ours are), and you can get manual hubs instead of the split axle shaft crap.
