Hi, I'm new to the fourm but I was wondering if anyone new where I could get a RAM air intake for a 2004 3.7L Dakota. K&N does not list it on their website although you can get it for the 2005 3.7L. I did find this one on ebay I'm just wondering why it would be so much cheaper than what K&N sell theirs for. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-...Q5fAccessories
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Because K&N like to sell they time for R&D. All I do is buy the cheap ebay intake for the manderal bent tube and the silicone couplers, then go and buy the right univeral K&N filter for $50 at my local jobber. K&N intake for under $100. Don't use the cheap ebay filter, ebay filters are f@%&ing junk.

It's cheap because it may not fit right, or well, but it comes with a K&N filter. I have one for my 4.7 and I had to modify it quite a bit to make it fit and it didn't have a long *** filter on it like that one does.
Also the K&N one will fit perfectly, and most likely has a heat shield of some kind. It's really just a much better quality intake.

why not build your own thats what i did and looks really nice at autozone they have chrome hard plastic tubing that you can build your own intake set up and having it look professional i did mine for about $60 and have better placement that the k&N kits do the sections come in diffrent angles and straight sections and you can drill in your own vacume and sensor holes

^^ I bought the kit on eBay that comes with the cheapo filter. It was under $25 shipped. It works fine for the tubbing and couplers, just like trx7 said. I had to shorten the first pipe about 2", and it's still not perfect. But I put a K&N on it after I shortened the pipe.
"
Looks way better than PVC. I got the kit from Chrome Intakes (ebay seller) with 3.5" pipe, then went to the advance and got a universal K&N. I got a short filter, only about 5" long because anything longer wouldn't fit, and a 5" barely fits as it is. I've been thinking about coming up with some kind of heat shield for it, but I'm not sure what to make it out of yet.
You can also go to Advance/Pep boys/Autozone and get the build your own intake pieces. They cost more than the eBay one, but you don't have to modify it. I've been thinking about doing it as well. The only problem is I believe the piping only comes in 3" and 4", and the perfect size for the dakota is 3.5", but a reducer coupler shouldn't be hard to find.
