Default 99 dakota

i got a 99 with a 3.9 and it is multi port fuel injection,the motor went and i already had a 3.9 with a throttlebody out of a 89.is it possible to changethe centerhead on the engine as i cant find a motor in the scrap yards here.

You can use the engine if you just use the short block. And keep your top end. You may have to drill out some oil holes. Check www.allpar.com for all the differences between LA engines and Magnums.

the 3.9 that has the multiport has a good size hole through the side of the block though ,so i guess i would need to use the whole engine out of the 89 if thats what you mean by using the short block? not sure what holes might need to be drilled out

A short block is everything below the heads. You can't use the LA heads. Due to you wont be able to bolt on the multiport intake on it. Look at the engine list on that site and see about the oil passages.
