5.9 ECM on a 5.2?
In OBD1 it works, I'm using a Ram 5.9/Auto Mopar PCM in my 5.2/5 speed and it runs great and I get the same MPG so it's not running any richer.
I'm doubtful about it working well with OBD2...

ya i was reading up on it and its going back and forth from yes it can work to no it doesnt work. i talked to a guy hat i am friends with who has been a dodge mechanic for a long time and he said he would get the 5.2 over a 5.9 anyways (more torquey and have the potential to perform better) so in that case there would be no point in doing that.
So you're saying, all other things being equal, adding 25 hp and 50 ft-lbs of torque isn't gonna make any difference?
A manual 318 vs a auto 360 is a close race. As for being more torquey you are sadly mistaken. The 360 makes more torque period. Its not hard to figure out. Its basically the same motor, but with more displacement. So there is no way a 318 makes more torque. And it does not have more potential. A 360 can always been made bigger than a 318. If you're talking transmissions thats a different story, but as far as the engines go, the 360 has more displacement and will always be more powerful given the same mods done to each...
And to the OP, why are you swapping a 318 ecm for a 360?

Actually I have seen a 318 bored and stroked to a 404ci, but I have also seen 360s bored to a 425ci... but thats like .100 over, which most people can't get away with.
i wasn't saying that the 318 has more torque, i am saying its more torquey with the gas. not boring it or anything. i know that a 360 is and can be bored bigger than a 318 anytime. i didn't mean for it to turn all weird. Im not doing anything with my 5.2 ecm. this is a subject that is talked about all the time. a 5.9 and 5.2 are *******ly the same within the ecm. the timing of these engines isnt off by much (i read from a durango forum). it can go both ways, yes it can be done, no it cant.
