Default Frustrated

Ok y"all i need some help. My 97 Dakota has been havin some issues with her. I had a new throw out bearing and rear end in it. After I got it back from having all that done. It drove perfectly, better then it ever had actually, for about 1 day. I drove it this morining and it was fine but I went and got in it tonight and it wouldnt go into reverse and had a real hard time with 1st-5th aswell. The longer I drove it the better it shifted by the time it got to my destination it was shifting fine and I had reverse back. Im being told it just needs a new clutch but with what its doing it seems to me like its something else. Any ideas?

Don't go back to the same place for anymore work.
If they changed the throw out bearing with out checking the clutch plate while they had it apart they have no clue what they are doing.

The pedal is different yes. It seems like the engagement point is different. Trust me it will never go to another shop again. It only seems to have problems intermittently and only when its cold after driving for awhile it gets better.

My 91 mercury capri had troubles like that before. You should get your master/slave clutch cylinders checked.

what kind of fluid do you have in the tranny? some fluid is too think when it is cold and will give you problem shifting. I would put auto tranny fluid it and see if that gets better.

Manual transmissions take 75w-80 gear oil. ATF (auto tranny fluid) is way to thin and the transmission would chew itself apart.

that sounds like your Tranny Fluid is too viscous.. but I am not a manual tranny expert by any means. I do hear that cold fluid is a problem, at least up here where it gets to minus 40 celsius/Fahrenheit quite regularily
