question about getting bigger tires
ok, my truck came with 245/70/r16 tires. i needed new ones so after listening to my cousin (who has an associates in automotive tech) i put bought 275/75/r16 tires. now my cousin didnt tell me that bigger tires would mess with my speedometer. im not too concerned because i have a gps that tell me my actual speed. but, if my speedo is off, could the new tires damage anything on my truck, more importantly, my transmission?
my truck is a 2000 dakota 5.9L QC 4x4 A/T with 86k miles

I'm driving around with 33x12.50x15's and no problems. You might want to consider upgrading gears if you only have 3:55's though. My truck came stock with the 3:92's, but I'd like to upgrade to 4:11's eventually. The bigger tires will also affect your odometer as well, and if you have the overhead computer, the mileage readout won't be accurate.
if not i had mine recalibrated before i got my programmer at dodge and it was only $20 but your is not off very much at all i went from 245-70-16 to 265-75-16 and it changed it 5 miles an hour so i dont thing it is very much
I never looked into the cost to have the speedo recallibrated, but if it's only about $20, I'll have to look into it, because I'd really like to know what my actual mpg's are. The overhead computer says 10.7, but I know that's wrong
