Default sticking in park...

a friends 01 has doen this twice, first time was about a year ago, and then again a coulpe days ago when the first cold night hit. the lever wont move from park, but let the truck warm up, and it is fine??? would it be the park lock solinoid in the coloum, or a brake switch, or something different? just wondering if this is any kind of a common problem before we start throwing parts at it.

Most likely some kind of linkage that is bent or broken. Take off panels and take a look.
