Default Valvoline Max Life ATF

I had my tranny flushed and they used Valvoline Max Life ATF which they said was compatiable with ATF+4. Is this correct, they said they would flush and refill with ATF+4 if it made me feel better. Any advice.

It's a universal ATF, yes it's technically fine, but with dodge transmissions your better off just keeping the OEM ATF +4.

No. No "technically" about it.
Look at Valvolines transmission fluid offerings.
http://www.valvoline.com/products/co...mission-fluid/

Click on the only one that says "MaxLife" which is Dex/Merc. (http://www.valvoline.com/products/co...ssion-fluid/37)
No where does it say "approved for" or "recommended for" Chrysler products.

Valvoline makes a specific ATF+4, which is officially licensed by Chrysler. http://www.valvoline.com/products/co...ssion-fluid/32
Have them change it out at no cost to you. Whoever did the work should know better. Certain cars take certain specifications of fluid for a reason.

Appreciate the response from everyone, the thing is I am nut when it comes to maintenance, and just knowing that something was in my truck that was not 100% recommended would drive me insane. I just spoke with the garage and they are changing it out today. I ususally do all my own maintenance but I purchased the truck at 31000 miles and it has 35000 miles now. I have changed all the other fluids but didn't have time to do the tranny myself. Once again appreciate the quick response from everyone.

the only fluid that goes in a mopar tranny is atf +4. and even the stuff you buy at advance aint real atf +4. only the dealer has the real stuff.

i used valvoline atf4 when I changed the fluid, no problems so far. But yea, make sure its atf4, anything else will cause problems. I would throw a fit at the shop you got that changed at. Think of how many other people they've done that to, possibly leading to transmission failure. I certainly wouldnt pay for them to re-fill it with atf4 either, thats their fault.

I had it done at Brakes Plus they didn't put up any fight about it and said if it made me feel better they would re-flush and fill with Valvoline ATF+4. Which I "watched" them do! Thanks for all the input from everyone.
