i finally got my 99 dakota on the road the other day and boy was i surprised,it got 7 or 8 km per litre.im not sure what that would be in mpg.its got a 3.9 that really seems to work good with a auto tranny.i know new plugs would help but there must be something bigger that is wrong, any help would be appreciated

At 20 miles per gallon I don't see why you are complaining. That is about as good of mileage as our trucks get.

Very true a good tune up might help out a little bit but if you are getting above 20 mpg thats not bad at all. Maybe with a good tune up and driving on the highway you might see 22 or 23 MPG but keep in mind your in a heavy truck and as soon as you get into stop and go traffic your going to start sucking up some fuel.

i get 4-5KM per litre, i do have the 5.2 though

like the ones above said, do a tuneup; don't drive right foot heavy (if I do that i can get as low as 3km/l)

it costs me roughly $70, more or less 70 litres to fill and I get 290-325~ KM, that was with 100% city driving. Now that im going to school I do about 90% highway 10% city, i get around 400-425km per tank

my buddy put it on a computer and it was showing i need to hook up a o2 sensorand output speed sensor,so hopefully replacing them helps, the gap on my plugs is 32 thousands, not sure what it should be.

Yeah 20 mpg is not bad for these trucks. I just figured mine out today and I got 8.4 mpg Its pretty bad when my buddys truck has the same engine and is a auto but has about 2,500 more lbs and has a 6 in lift and is turning 35's he gets about 9-11 mpg mind you my truck is stock except for exhaust.
