Default shift ****

I want to change the shift ****, and I did it once before on a different truck, a ford ranger. Just, before i go ripping the stock one off i wanted to ask how it's on there... glued and pressed? Cuz thats what the last one was, then I just cut threads on it and JB welded a hurst **** on it, will it work the same on my 2002 Dakota....

Use a small flat blade screwdriver and gently pop out the center piece of the shift ****, the piece that has the shift pattern on it. Remove the nut under there, then you can remove the **** by pulling it straight up.
