Default Strange Smell...

When I accelerate with anything over about 50% throttle, I can smell something from my truck. I'm almost positive that it is from my truck. Does anyone have an idea on what it may be?

Not gas, not motor oil, i'm not sure about antifreeze or gear oil. I have only smelled burning motor oil and gas. All other ones I can't tell you. I thought it may have been a popular problem.

Well antifreeze has a really sweet smell, transmission fluid has a burning rubber smell, and gear oil has a terrible sulfur smell to it... a smell so bad it can't be confused with anything else! Also, does this smell become any more or less aparent with the windows up or down, or with the heater on or off? Any weird noises to go with the smell?

Try to describe it in terms of flavor or something else that's a common smell, anything you can give might help narrow it down.

Lol, no, not motor oil... gear oil, or differential oil. GL-5 has EP additives which contain large amounts of sulfur, and that is high on the list of the worst smelling stuff I've ever smelled.

Yeah that stuff smells horrible, I remember wondering how oil could possibly smell that bad when I did my rear diff.

It's the smell of the crap being scared out of you by the awesome acceleration of the 4.7, you might have to put a block under the pedal to keep from pressing it to the floor.
