Just the stuff I listed... motor mounts, maybe some sensors, may have to find a proper intake manifold if the one you have has the EGR or make a blockoff plate for it. Those should be the only differences.

You can find a transmission out of a v8 dakota, or ram truck, maybe a ram van as long as it is the 46re automatic.

So just to make sure I have all this straight, you have a 1997 dakota that had a v6 and auto transmission? You took out the v6 and transmission and want to put in a v8? You are looking either at a built '92 or one from a jeep?

Lol, do you not like driving a stick? I swapped out the auto for a manual in my truck and would never go back! The v8 with a 5 speed makes for a fast truck.

Absolutely! But what kind of manual transmission is it? Cause I was under the impression that there was never a v8/manual combo in the '92 or '93 dakota.

Anyway, read through this thread:

No, those sensors should be the same. It was the OBDI to OBDII sensors that changed... the connectors are different. I know that all got a little confusing, but I was basically saying if you went the with '92 you'd need new sensors, and if you went with the jeep you'll need new mounts.

I have a '98 360 out of a jeep grand cherokee that I'll be building and the motor mounts don't look the same as whats on my dodge. Also, I put the intake manifold from that engine onto my '95 318 and I had to use all my old sensor cause the connectors are different.

So with the engine you decided to go with, the mounts should be all that needs changing.

You can use a transmission out of any '96 or newer Dakota or Ram thats behind a 318 or 360. They are all the 46re (a518). The 4.7 switched to the 45rfe... you cannot use the 45rfe transmission.

So any update on getting an engine? Did you go with either of the 2 mentioned above?
