If you use your sensors and intake manifold on the motor it will work just fine. The '92's intake manifold will have an EGR valve and yours does not. Of course, you can always make a little plate to block that off on the '92 manifold.

The transmission is another issue. You have the 46re behind your 318, the '92 has the 46rh. The difference is the governor valve in yours is electronically controlled and the gov valve in the '92 is hydraulically controlled. The 46rh will function normally, but your computer will throw codes without that electronic governor valve plugged in. If its your only option, you can do it, but you're better off looking for a 46re.

IIRC, the jeep's transmission has the starter on the opposite side of the bellhousing, and the engine has different mounts. The motor itself will work fine if you get the correct mounts (assuming I'm right about them being wrong).

As for the sensors... I'm talking about the ECT, IAT, IAC, TPS, MAP, CrPS and CaPS. All the connectors changed between OBDI and OBDII.

The jeep, dodge and chrysler magnum blocks are all the same and have been since '92 (or '93 for the 360). There were slight differences in intake manifolds depending on whether or not it had an egr valve, and there were probably differences in the motor mounts depending on what it is in. The OBDII ('96+) sensors have different connectors than the OBDI ('92-'95) sensors. The starter does not bolt to the block, it bolts to the transmission's bellhousing, and from what I've heard/read, is on the opposite side of the bellhousing on the jeeps (pass. side instread of driver's side).

I don't know where you read or who told you that the motor won't fit, but I'm telling you it will fit as long as you don't mind replacing a few small parts.
