Question How hard??

So I have this old '77 Dodge RV with a 440 BB in it. It runs well, really well. Im currently lookin at gettin a lil beater car so I can put the truck up and work on it. I want to put the 440 in my dakota. How hard would this be to do? Its a 99 dakota sport. I know I need to replace the tranny and whatnot. But I would like to know how hard it would be to do and if it would be worth it to do to a 99. I dont want issues with the check engine light and stuff. I guess Im askin is it possible and would it really be worth it? Or should I go for an older Dakota to do it with?

anythings possible!

I was gonna do a cummins swap into my 99 but opted to do it on a 93 or older so I didnt have to deal with emmisions and what not. I am just worried bout how legal it is and I suggest you check so you dont get screwed.

Then again its its going to be a trailer queen and never see roads then do it!

Why would it be illegal? Sometimes our laws go overboard in the name of safety I guess.

Emissions laws. Some states are pretty lenient, but if you're in Cali or another strict state, I doubt you'd be able to swap that engine into your car. Legally.

This is the only big block info we got. It is in the FAQ in this section. And it is 1st Gen. But the 2 Gens are very close.
