Default Problems removing heads

I have an odd-ball question: If I remove the heads on my Magnum, will this damage the valve seats? I only ask because one of the reps at Hughes Engines said that the valve seats will crack. Is this true or was he trying to sell me a set of heads?

yea, i dont even hear of valve seat problems when removing heads, theres a chance you could crack it or not seat the gasket if you dont torque in sequence. in fact normally unless theres material flaw in hte head itself then the valve would break/crack before the head, but even then you only hear of those kinds of problems with boosted applications.....

anyways removing hte head poses no risks, unless you drop it.

You should follow the factory service manual when you dissassemble and put it back together. I think what he might be talking about with damaging it when you put the thing back together and have to put the connecting rods and rocker arms back on. I took mine off, you shouldn't have a problem with the valve seats.
