Default Power Steering noise

So...I almost know the answer to this one, but figured I would give you guys a shot...see if anyone has any other ideas.

A couple of weeks ago, the power steering pump started making a whining noise. It only does it after the truck is warmed up and she's running at normal temp. And it only makes the noise when I'm turning- like it's low on fluid.

I popped the cap off to check the level, and it's fine. And the fliud is swirling around like the pump is working good....but just from experience I know that when the pump is making noise, it's probably going out. What do you guys think?

Yeah...if the weather holds out I'm gonna flush it this weekend. If that doesn't work, then I'll be replacing the pump.

I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks

Does a flush really help? Mine complains a lot but still works and doesn't leak, right now at least lol

I flushed it this weekend. Yes it helped. It's not making the whining noise that it was before. I haven't ever flushed it since I have had the truck, and that was about 40 thousand miles ago...so I'm sure it couldn't hurt.

I just bought a battery filler (looks lke a turkey baster) and sucked the fluid out of the resevior and then refilled. Started the truck and cycled the steering wheel left to right about a dozen times, shut the truck off and repeated a few times. Seemed to help....like I said, it's not making the noise anymore.

Seems like I read somewhere that you should do a flush every 30 thousand miles I think.
