my 03 is stuck in 4 hi

I have a 2003 dakota sport, the 4wd service light had come on the last couple days and would kick it into 4hi without me switching it, now the switch doesn't light up and the truck won't come out of 4hi any ideas

If it is electronic shifting transfer-case then it is possible it's wires are shorting out. If it is an manual shift transfer-case it may be a shift linkage miss-adjusted.
