Are you looking for a walkthrough? I've pulled the transmission out of my truck 3 or 4 times in the two years I've owned it. The 1st gens aren't too much different when it comes to removing the transmission than the 2nd gens... I know cause I pulled the transmission out of a gen 2 at a junkyard once... that was a job and a half.

Found it... here is a walk through I already wrote up over in gen 1...

It's not a hard job at all!! Just time consuming.

Thanks for the walkthrough!
Quick question,
How long would it be alright to drive my truck the way it is? Is there a grease fitting on the transmission for a temporary fix?
Its the holidays and i cant find a saturday/sunday to devote to this right now
On a side note, after getting my new exhaust put on I only got 260km to the last tank. :O . I wasnt even on the gas that bad. Il see if it happens again next time.

There's no grease fitting or easy way to get grease in there. If you want to try, remove the slave cylinder from the transmission, look in there with a flashlight, and see if you can hit the bearing with a grease gun. The slave cylinder pushes on the fork that houses the throwout bearing, so with the slave cylinder out of the transmission, you'll see a little cup that the slave cylinder sits in... look at the fork that that cup is on and in the center of the bellhousing you'll see a bearing about as big around as a soda can. I guess it's worth a try to look, but I can't tell you for sure that you'll be able to do it. Should only take 15 minutes. Good luck.
I wouldn't run it for too long with a whining bearing, cause if that bearing seizes, it could tear up some stuff in the bellhousing and you won't be able to disengage your clutch at all.
