Default Keyless Entry

I have a 2000 Quad Cab with keyless entry. Is there any way to change the notification that the truck has been locked from horn to flashing lights? I currently have my keyless set to sound the horn when I depress the lock button on the fob. I changed it, but the only option in the manual was to change it to no signal given. I would like to have the headlights/parking lights to flash instead of the horn sounding. I am willing to change wiring in the existing system if needed. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or ideas.

I THINK that when you push that button it sets of a rely to honk the horn.. open and closed circute since the horn is a constant 12v.. its not hard to do that.

To do it with your lights. you would have to find the 12v wire for the lights wire in a reply to the factory alarm system so that when you push that button it will flash the lights..

That would be my guess. If i actually sat down and did it with the wires in my face i could probably do it, but sitting here thinking about it.. thats all i got.

Try pulling up some diagrams off the net, when i installed my alarm, it was a control box that sent the signal to the headlights we just tapped into the 12v and the alarm did the rest, but im sure you can tap into the facotory wiring for the alarm and wire in a new relay or use the old one form the horn and do somthing like that the wires for the lights are under your passanger side dash down by the kick panel...

someone correct me if im wrong. Becuase to me that seems like a logical thing to do.. (to me that is) lol.. but im pretty sure there are other ways..

if there is a factory alarm your door locks are multiplexed, a single wire that say at 3.2 volts will lock and arm anddouble pulsed @4.8 volts will disarmthen unlock. only problem is that the BCM controls this. eliminate the wire that pulses the horn when you lock, eliminates the horn. there is a wire from the steering wheel to the bcm, and the bcm tells the horn when to honk .to see if you have a factory alarm, roll your windows down and press the lock button twice. wait a min. or 2 and open the door from the inside. i'll look to see what i can come up with for ya at work.

this should do it for ya. turn it to no signal given and add a relay. without the truck in front of me i cantsay it 100% will work though

the orange/purple or green/black wire in the drivers kick panel will show +12volts when you press the lock button only
