I have a 99 dakota 4x4 3.9L and the trans went. I found a fresh rebuilt 46RE for cheap money. It is out of a 98 ram 2500. I was told it would work from another posting and just want to make sure before I bought it. People say there may be a little metal massaging, doesanyone know what that means?
Your '99 dakota should have the 42re, but as long as that 46re is also a 4x4 transmission, it should work just fine. The 3.9 and 5.2/5.9 all have the same bellhousing bolt pattern.
