1997 dodge dakota HELP! WANNA GO 5.2 TO A 5.9 WILL IT WORK????
Hey this is my first on here. I have a 97 dodge dakota sport 5.2. Lost oil pressure(main bearing out). Wanna to know if i could go from the 5.2 to a 5.9 w/ just the engine swap. Was wondering if the electronics, injectors, trans. will all bolt up?

5.2 and 5.9 pcms are different, the 5.2 and 5.9 blocks are totally different, outside bolt ons are pretty much 100% match, fuel injectors, tb, intake, accessory, ect.. harness could work, you would have to look at it, but as the PCM is different the pins will be different making it unlikely to work.
Your better off buying a truck with a 5.9 as you will spend more money doing the swap and rebuilding then just finding a 5.9 ready truck, pretty cheap now due to ****y mpg.
And don't say your going to do the work to save money, because 1. if you don't even know if this is possible you don't consume the skills to do it, meaning you would have to pay someone labor ect to have it done. In the end its not worth it. Unless you know what your doing. Even then its pretty much a pain in the ***, but anything is these days as the cars are built to not allow average joe to even change an oil filter without going through hell.
Just rebuild your own 318.

i gave you the answer you need to hear,
but here, im'a go ahead and give you what you should hear
in order to swap a 5.9 in place of your 5.2. you gonna need motor mounts, pcm, a different trans (or an adapter plate), im not 100% sure if the injectors will swap over or not,
thats off the top of my head, and im drunk, still type better than you.
im only assuming you cant do it... i hope you dont take offense, but if you do, i really don't care,
