Default what trans in 2000 dakota

i will soon be acquiring a 2000 dakota sport ext cab with a blown motor. engine swaps seem pretty straightforward on these. my only question is what transmission came in this vehicle? mitchell says its an nv3500 and drivetrain.com says its an ax-15. i'm just trying to be as prepared as possible, will this trans hold up ok if i put a 360 in front of it?

thank you

you didnt say which engine it has. the 4-cylinder had the ax-__ which is weak.

if it has a V6 or larger, it has the NV3500, which will hold up fine.

it is a v6, so thats good. figured if i were already doing a motor i may as well put a 5.9 in it. i've read into it in the faq section and it seems very simple. Gonna be my first time attempting it in a truck. Thank you very much for your reply

make sure you upgrade your clutch. the stock V6 clutch wont like all the extra torque.

good luck!

yes, i will probably going with a centerforce stage I clutch. but i am having a little trouble locating a used flywheel. all the local scrapyards have automatics. is there any chance that the v6 one is the same?
