I am going to do something like this in the next week or so. I am also wondering about the dimming. I'm not too concerned wether or not I can turn them off but I'd like to be able to get them as dim as possible when needed. How dim will they get?

I also depends on which LEDs you get. Different LEDs emit different light amounts, and different patterns
