Default Save your money!

I have a 02 Dak v6 4x4 125xxx miles...the engine just purrs...

Someone said they bought twice the truck meaning a 1500 in another post. I have to argue that point. Stock 1500 in the 2000-2003 yr pulling power is about 5K pounds.

My lil v6 stock can pull 4100pounds max..so NO....just cause someone has a full size does not mean they have TWICE the truck we do. In fact, I laugh at every truck I see raised and is a 1500/f150. Their all posers.

For the price and upkeep, a full size 1500/150 is not the smarter choice when comparing facts to the dakota line. Maybe TWICE the truck to a crappy s10/ranger..but not dakota.

Any dakota can hang with a 1500/150, and if its a v8 dak, even better.

Very true but ram is wider and you can actually fit people in the back unlike the dak thats why im upgrading to a 2nd gen ram.

See I disagree with the person who said buy a junk box beater and use that... Using his own point. You're in college. You need something that is not going to break every other day like a civic with 250k on the clock.

I'm in a VERY similar situation. I'm not sure if you have any other montly bills but with 35 hours a week I'm stuned that you are having trouble paying for it. I don't work while I'm at school but while im on breaks. Which means once a week every 5 weeks, then 3 weeks around Christmas, then summer.

With that I am able to pay for my truck, pay for food, gas, ect. ect. while im in school, and even repairs. I save all my money over the summer. I pay $228 a month for 3 years and so far I've paid for 14 of the 36 months.

If your only bill is for your truck then you would have to be an idiot to not be able to pay for it. But if you're paying for your own school as well then thats a different story. Plus you live at home, that saves a LOT of money right there. I make $10.50 an hour (working for my own father!) so on top of that you make more then I do.

I was in the same situation, goin to school and tryin to pay for a truck. Ive got an 01 Dakota Sport 4x4 that I still owe bout 4500 on. It has 130k on it with no major problems and i have been hard as hell on it. If you like the truck and really attached to it, i would keep it, pay it off, and know that i owned it and have the pride to know that i work for it. Just watch all fluild levels and leaks and keep up regular maintance. The truck should last u another 100k.
