Default Crazy speedometer bounce

Need some help with my 97 dakota. 5.2, 4x4, stick...
Speedometer needle just started acting up. it will go from 40mph to 120mph, and stay pegged till i stop. Thought it'd be a bad ground so i re-did my battery terminals, but it still does it. I just did plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor too. Truck runs great, starts great. Just don't have a speedometer. Any ideas???

Most likely a faulty speed sensor. Or wires to the speed sensor. I say replace it and see if that fixes it.

Yeah most likely a speed sensor. Mine did that for a few times and then I replaced the speed sensor. Did your ABS light come on? Sometimes that will come on if its the rear speed sensor over the rear diff.

No I paid like $30 for mine at Federated... That is the one over the rear diff. There are two. The other one is on the tranny. If you don't have an ABS light on its probably the one on the tranny.
