..another 99 dakota that wont start !!!!!
lurking and searching for awhile now ....and at the cost of $300+ so far !!!!!!
need some expertise on this.
99 dakota 3.6l auto 110k mi.
last week it wouldnt turn over so bought new battery. problem fixed. this week wont start. replaced iginition coil and crankshaft position sensor and bought a obd II scanner and i have no thrown codes. still wont start. its been pretty cold around here (western pa) so even threw in some dry gas as a precaution.
now at a loss
any suggestions would help as i dont want to take to local garage but.....running out of cash !

True story, possibly the fuel pump. An easy way to check that is to have someone turn your ignition on (without starting it), while you listen under the rear of your truck. If when they turn the key on you hear a buzzing for a few seconds and shut off, your pump is fine. If you hear nothing, then you probably need a new fuel pump.

as of today truck is running fine ! i think the dry gas got it to start
so there was some h2o in fuel line. while it was running(real bad) it threw a p1391 code so i rechecked the crankshaft postion sensor and tightened up the bolts(top one was loose) added some sea foam and its running fine now.
so just to note:
1. battery - $80
2. ignition coil -$40
3. crankshaft position sensor - $100
4. dry gas and sea foam. - $12~
5. and a few (while this is off.....might as well do this...)routine maintence
- $40~
total - $260~ not the $300 posted earlier.
This is what solved my problem of the ......99 dakota that wont start
thanks for all the input !
