I think with a manual trans you will prob will be happy with the power you will get out of it. Its no hemi but its no v6 dog either If you dont plan to pull anything you will be fine. I know in my dads old jeep grand cherokee it had the 4.7 and yes it is a bit lighter but I dont think by much and it actually had some ***** and I didnt mind driving it.

I have a 05 ram regular cab with the 4.7 3.93 gears 5 speed auto towing package. It still has plenty of get up and go. I bought it to tow our 6000 gvw trailer and it did better than I thought it would. I too was a little skeptical, since I was used to towing with my Ford with a 5.4 . I would say it feels about as zippy around town as my 2000 reg. cab Dakota with the 4.7 with 3.55 gears.

Yeah, That's what I'm thinking. I used to have an '00 R/T std cab with some decent mods and it was "okay" for what it was, But I'm thinking I'll be straying away from the Ram for now unless I find a Hemi with a manual. I just can't see Having that much truck with no way to move it. I mean come on, A bone stock civic?????? If I thought either of us could live with that We'd just keep the P.O.S. Honda we have now. speaking of which, I have to warn you guys that unless you enjoy being passed by wheelchairs in the bicycle lane or just have a few metric butt tons of money for performance mods, DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES LET ANYONE TALK YOU INTO DRIVING AN A.W.D. HONDA C.R.V.. even my mother cusses at that car for being so ball-less.

Keep in mind it's a manual so your drivetrain losses will be noticeably lower. One thing Dodge auto's aren't known for is efficiency. I would have her test drive it and see what she thinks, at worst you lost an hour or two of your time. My 4.7 isn't a rocket but some basic bolt ons and a superchips tuner did give it a noticeable boost. My dad has a 2002 Ram quad cab with the 5.9 and I can take him as long as I don't just spin (open differential, working on fixing that).

Yeah, I know better than to expect efficancy from mopar. But, either way, I have decided not to go with the Ram I'll find her a QC or CC 5.9 and just drop a manual trans in it. it just seems like the best option I can come up with and be able to keep a decent power to weight ratio and keep the fun factor in the mix as well. She has done her time in the Soccer mobile for a hell of a lot longer than I ever could have so I know there's no way she's gonna settle for anything less than I would. And I hate being passed by anyone on a hoveround powerchair.
