Default Pulley noise

Hey guys I was wondering how you can pinpoint which pulley is making a noise...i think its the top left looking at the engine from the front... haha i forget what it is and im a little drunk...anyways because when i accidentally splashed windshield washer fluid on it the loud *** noise went away...it definitely sounds like one of the bearings is bad in something and i was just wondering how you go about figuring out which one it is. It seems to quiet down or go away once she warms up. Thanks for any help

edit: i know its probably not the belt either because i'll spray it with dressing then the noise comes back like .5-1 minute later

CHECK YOUR WATER PUMP!!! My truck has been doing the same thing for about a week. I thought it was the tensioner pulley because the belt was vibrating so badly. Today the belt flies off and the water pump is TOAST. Had to get towed home from job site, tomorrow I have the privilege of installing a new pump Good luck.

Water pumps are so much fun on these trucks too. I am dealing with a similar prob right now. I had some noise comming from the tensioner so I replaced the pulley on there and it went away. came back a few days later but not near as bad. on the interstate yesterday it got a lot worse so I stoped and replaced the old worn out belt and got back on the interstate. was fine till I stoped for about an hour then after I started again it came back. I got it home and started looking around and have pretty much decided that it's the P.S. pump. all my other pulleys are smooth with verry little play. the P.S. pulley seems to have some "wigle" to it with the belt off of it so I guess I know how I'll be spending my afternoon today. but 1st things 1st. gota hit the beer gettin place or nothing's gonna work right, LOL.

id say take the belt off and spin each of the pulleys individually, we did that on my buddies ram and the one that was bad had a very distinctive sound that was different from the others as well as it doesn't seem to spin smooth

the pulleys were fairly easy to replace on his truck, but his engine compartment is FAR bigger than the daks lol

Really easy. Put a socket on the tensioner and pull right. It will losen up and come right off. Just gotta get it around the fan.

I had a squel come from mine. (on my 3.9) but turned out one of the pullies was actually breaking. If I remember right it was the idler pulley.

yea changing the belt on the 4.7 requires two people lol, cause there is no freaking room in the engine compartment

Got the WP on and no more noise If you have the 3.9 or 5.2, take off the 3 little 3/8 nuts holding the fan shroud on and "poof" lots of working room. Just pulls right up, easy.

True, there was more room in the engine compartment of my 3.9, so that probably makes it a little more of a pain. Atleast its not a 4 banger and they put the damn thing in sideways.
