Default 1998 Dodge Dakota Sport, UPDATED WITH PICS!

I'm Mike, I just picked up a 1998 Dodge Dakota Sport with 89k and change miles, 5 speed manual transmission 5.2L 4x4 extended cab in Patriot Blue. Clean title, flawless interior. The paint and body is in great condition. It has a few minor blemishes. 31x10.50 tires. I paid 2000 cash for it. It was a grocery getter for the previous owner and was hardly driven.

Since I'm new to Dakota's I'm not familiar with what's good and what isn't. I haven't been able to find very many accessories for it or even where to start on the truck.

It's fine how it is, however I have never been able to leave a vehicle alone the way it came from the factory. So any opinions on things I'd like to do?

1: A good reliable lift that would fit 33x12.50's and articulate really well without rubbing.

2: Decent sounding exhaust without calling attention to the local police saying look at me, here I come blocks away... ha something with just a good tone but not too loud.

3. Anything else that is a, "must do" to a 98 Dakota that I'm not thinking of?

Any information any of you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure my answers are somewhere on this site however since i'm new to the site I haven't really figured out how to navigate around yet. Thanks again,

Mike

Pics are finally up. Check it out. This is the truck I picked up for 2000.00
Yes, the bug shield came with the truck, I made the previous owner throw it in. ha

A good reliable lift you are going to be paying a lot. A suspension lift is the best way to go, but a torsion bar setup is difficult to lift. The cheapest lifts are $1500+.

Now, you can do a body lift. A 3" body lift is only a couple hundred dollars. It will allow you run 33's but really doesn't do anything else for you.

Another option is to just crank your tb's and run 2" blocks in the back. Thus, gaining you 2" front and rear. Just enough to run 33's. You may rub a minor amount.

Exhaust wise. I like my Hooker Aerochamber. Nice tone to it and not too loud at all. Almost too quite for me actually. A magnaflow will probably be your best bet. Good tone, Decent amount of sound.

That faq link is the best area to look. A lot of good info in there.

I appreciate the info and feedback. After I posted I started poking around and found some very useful information. The info that's been provided in this thread has been helpful as well. Very much appreciated. I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of the color but the deal I got I figured I could deal with it or paint it later on. I'll post some pictures soon. Again, thanks for the help and info.

Mike
