Default 1998 dodge dakota Manual Trans Problem

I have a 1998 3.9L dakota sport manual trans and when i put it in reverse and back up it goes "clank, clank, clank, clank, etc.." reverse works but just makes a terrible loud noise. I believe something broke in the tranmission but am not sure, i would like to get as much possible info on this problem before I decide what to do. Thanks all, Jay

Hmm, this is not my primary section, so I haven't seen this thread yet, but there are better ways of asking for help than being an ***. First off, if nobody responds, how about offering up a bit more info about the issue? Maybe mention anything you've tried so far to fix it? Oh wait, you're probably the type that doesn't do anything to try to fix it and runs straight for the computer.

Anyway, which transmission is in the '98 v6 dak? NV3500, AX-15, or NV-1500?

Does this happen when you are completely in gear (clutch fully engaged) or while you are riding out the clutch in reverse?

Have you ruled out any non-transmission related possibilites, like bad u-joints, bad rear axle, etc.?

Sounds more like bad u joints.

Also check to see if the muffler is rubbing the driveshaft since its so close as it is to the back of the shaft. What sounded like a throwout bearing going on mine turned out to be the muffler hitting the driveshaft on right turns.
