Default straight pipe?

I want a louder sounding exhaust, and i am really cheap, and kinda redneck. haha i was just wondering if there is any problems by cutting the exhaust off right before the muffler, and having no pipe come out the back. More or less a straight pipe effect, just cutt it off after the cat before the muffler with no pipe out the back. Would i run into any problems?

I have that set-up now on a RT. dual after the cat. Loud? sure is. Sounds like a stock car at WOT. Not at all loud at low speeds, or at highway speeds. I quess im used to driving Hondas...lol

you could get pulled over for being excessively loud. Depends on how bored your local popo are.

It would be so obnoxious on the highway. It sure would be loud though.

the cops are useless around here, as long as i dont go WOT around the Tim Hortons area, i will never get pulled over. I know it will be loud, but will i run into any problems? heat wise or whatever?

if u sit in traffic alot i wouldn't chop the exaust.
those gases build up under the bed, and can end up in the cab.
cut the muffler and keep the tailpipe, or make a new one

I had a '98 dakota with the 5.2. I tried running with out the muffler for a bit, but it was way too loud for me. Way too redneck for me, but to each their own.

You know, you'd be suprised how amazing no muffler on a dak sounds. I got so many compliments on mine. Everybody always wanted to know what muffler I had what exhaust., blah blah blah. When i told them it was factory, cut off before muffler and dumped, most of the time their jaw dropped and they HAD to look under it just to make sure.

Every truck I've owned, rather than buy an exhaust, I've just cut the muffler on and dumped it. Cheap. Sounds great. No Muffler restriction.

If your on the throttle, it loud buddy. However, when you let off or just keep the RPM's low, it's really not that bad. And on the highway, it's a little loud, but it's really not all that bad.

I say go for it. If your as redneck as I am and half as poor, you'll love it.
