MY 04 Dakota with a 4.7 has a slight RPM surge when maintaining a constent speed. From about 45-60 MPH the RPM jumps about 400..the speed never changes...just the RPM. I'm wondering if the tourque converter is kicking out....or something electronic that maintains engine RPM???? Anyone ever have this problem and if so....what to look for.

 

As a test, try turning O/D off.

 

change out your Throttle Position sensor. i had this same problem a few years ago..

 

Tried it without the overdrive...same thing. I thought about the TPS think I'll try that. Thanks for the feedback gentlemen!
