Default Radiator Fluid on the floor mats

Ok guys new to the site...I'm a student right now (not a lot of extra cash) so I'm trying to figure out if I have a serious problem and need a mechanic or if this is something I can fix on my own.

2000 Dakota, 3.9L rear-wheel drive, 120,000 miles-pretty well maintained

Over the last 4-5 months I've had to refill the radiator fluid reservoir twice (last time about a month a half ago). Today I was driving and when I got out I noticed some radiator fluid on the passenger-side floor mats. I did have the AC running as well.

So I guess the question is, could I have over-filled the reservoir? do i have a leak? do i need to replace something?

Any info would be very much appreciated.

Thanks guys

If you have coolant on the floor, that means the heater core is shot. The heater core sits behind the dash, and in order to get to it, the dash has to be pulled out of the way. The heater core it's self is only about $20, but if you can't do the job yourself, it's probably gonna cost a few hundred dollars to have repaired

yup. you can bypass the heater core for the time being. just find the in and outs at the firewall and get a fitting to put them together.

scratch the heater core problem i had the same problem and its the a/c where it drips from the under side of the vehicle there is a heat shield and the water gets caught and there is a hole right behind it and the bushing goes bad you need to pull the lower side of your fender to access it and pull the heat shield off and silicone the hole theres a bolt or screw or something. i had water from the front passenger seat floorboards and my carpet was wet all the way back to the back seat my dad's fleet mechanic at work looked it up on line and its a fairly common problem my blower motor resistor also went bad just fyi
good luck
