cruise control conversion

You should not need anything extra or additional to add cruise to your truck. The cruise module will have a connection for the brake switch input and the clutch switch input from the switch on the clutch pedal that only allows the truck to start if the clutch pedal is pressed down. These inputs will turn off the cruise if you use the brakes or if you disengage the clutch. It will have a separate stalk mount control switch that goes on the steering column cover. A good cruise will have all the connectors and attachments to hook the cable to the throttle linkage. Just don't use any Scotch lock connectors-they do not last long at all.
Just get a good cruise unit and you should not have any problems. I put a Rostra (owned by Dana now) cruise on my truck 4 years ago and have had no trouble at all with it. I got it at a truck accessories store in Zephyrhills, Florida where I lived at the time. It only cost $200.00, they would have installed it for another $100.00 but I did it myself. It really was very easy. The hardest thing was finding the right speed sensor wire. The store where you buy the cruise may have abook they can look it up for you. Mine was a dark blue wire in the middle plug on the PCM but your 97 is probably different from my 2001.
