Just joined the forum and need some advice/answers. I just rotated the tires on my Dakota and noticed a tiny bit of play in the front left wheel. Can I just tighten the spindle nut a bit and fix this? Should I even be concerned about it?

 

Most likely the play is the ball joints or tie rod ends. They will need to replaced. Yes you should be concerned. Also 2003 is a 2nd Generation. I will move it there.
