Need speakers for an 01 Quad Cab
I am looking to replace all of my 6.5" speakers in the door panels of my quad cab, the previous owner blew them up. I have read some threads about people having problems with some speakers being too deep. Anyone have a make and model of a nice speaker to put in the doors that will fit? I don't need anything top of the line, just something that sounds as good or better than the premium infinity sound system the truck came with.
Crutchfield tells me you are going to have an issue getting things to fit in the rear door. That doesn't mean that most of the speakers they list for the truck won't fit, just that they aren't going to guarantee they will fit.
I have a set of speakers in the Club Cab rear holes that supposedly don't fit in there because of depth, but they fit just fine. Go figure. If you are concerned about it, make sure you buy from someplace local so you can jet back and exchange them if they don't fit. Or, better yet, pull one of the door panels off before you go buy them, buy them, go to the parking lot, and check it out. Then, if they don't fit, just walk back in and exchange them
I have Boston Accoustics in all four holes. They come up for your truck just like they do for mine - fit the front, but not the back.

I consider these a little "high end" though.
Here are some Infinity Reference 6022s:

Personally, I would stay away for any Sony speakers, but if you just want sound equivalent to the stockers, they might suffice. But, for the price, I think the Infinity speakers will sound better. JMHO.

I was hoping that somone actually had already bought replacement speakers for a quad cab and had a model number that fit for sure. I want to order online to save money, but then of course I can't return them as easily. I believe the windows rolling down in the rear doors are the biggest issue with them not fitting.
I've got Polk DB651s 's in my 2001 QC. Bass is kinda weak, but the mids and highs are really nice.

Easy install, I thought. Hardest part was detaching the old speakers from the brackets.

Crutchfield tells me that the specific head unit you listed is discontinued.
The Alpine speakers, being 100 watts RMS, prolly need an amp to really shine. Not to say they won't sound good, but they would sound better with an amp. They look like a pretty solid choice to me.
Crutchfield also tells me the Kicker speakers are discontinued. I have never known anyone to have Kicker speakers other than subs, and I was always of the opinion that their subs were overpriced for the sound they produced.
One thing about those speakers is the ability to turn them into 2-ways and retain the cross-over. That seems pretty nifty. But, I don't think it is necessarily any better than just a plain old two-way speaker would be. Someone can correct me if I am wrong about that...
So, if you are able to get the discontinued stuff at a price that reflects it being discontinued, I would say go for it. Compared to stock, I would think it would sound markedly better.
