I have a question I hope someone can help me out. I have a grinding sound coming from my transfer case.I was told it could be a bad cv joint in my front drive shaft.Can anyone tell me how to determine if it is the drive shaft or the transfer case.What exactly goes wrong that causes this grinding with a bad drive shaft.It only does it in 4 wheel drive and when I back up.I'm hoping someone else here has had a simalar problem with a dakota quad cab.The transfer case is a nv233 if that helps.
