Bought a '98 Dakota last month. Sank quite a bit into it already..lower ball joints, complete rear brake job including drums, right front hub assembly. Noticed the overdrive doesn't work so then noticed the side plate off where the gear selector goes into the steering column. There's a cut wire that comes out of the selector arm and goes back into the steering column. Is this a wire for the overdrive switch and why do you think they cut it.
