Default Engine swap Vs. Performance Parts

Well I was think about putting a 5.7 or a 5.9 into my dakota to replace my 4.7, since the price for performance parts for the 4.7 are incredible expensive and seem to not add up to much. as where the other engines have better figures and more options for performance parts after the facts. So would it be better to mod out my current engine or Drop in a new one? and what size?

find a 5.2 or 5.9. either swap or sell the 4.7 for a 5.2/.9

I think you have it vice versa and yes after seeing that pull I basically canceled every order I had.

I don't think the Magnum will bolt to the 4.7 trans. But, I could definately be wrong. Seems to me that if you could do that, every body and their 2nd cousin would be swaping the 4.7 6-sp into their R/T. I know I would.

The 3.9, 5.2 and 5.9 magnums have a different bellhousing bolt pattern than the 3.7, 4.7, 5.7 magnums. The transmissions are not swappable.

What would be an easier Swap a 5.9L or 5.7L Hemi... I'm gonna put some money into rebuilding the engine before I would drop it in.

Hard to say. The 5.9 is going to involve another trans, a lot of totaly diferent wiring, new computers, etc... the plus to that is that these trucks came with a 5.2 and a 5.9 so the parts are out there. the 5.7 would probably work with your trans (PROBABLY) but you are still going to run into some final fitment issues as far as accessories, wiring, and computers. it's a freakin toss-up.
