Default Anyone change U Joints without a press?

I am going to try and change my U joints on the rear propeller shaft of my 2001 Quad Cab 4X4. Just wanted to see if anyone has changed these out before without a press. Thanks.

absolutely. They make a specialty tool that looks linda like a c-clamp that uses an impact and socket.

I think that is a ball joint press. If that works I will rent one for free from autozone before I start the project. Thanks.

A sturdy vise, a couple of large drifts, and a BMF hammer. Did the joints on my old 4X4 Ranger. Should work on a Dak, too.

You can use the vise as a press, also. Just need some old sockets that are larger than the end caps of the joints.

I have never had to use a press for u-joints on any of my vehicles, haven't done them on my truck yet, but they look pretty straight forward to me.

X3. Just make sure everything is clean and grit free. Pack a little grease in the cap to hold the needles and be patient but firm with them. Don't forget to reward yourself with a few beers afterwards for a job well done!
