Default clicking noise

hi everyone, i have an 03 dakota and it makes a weird clicking noise all the time. when i look under the hood and try to hear where it's coming from it sounds like it's by the tensioner or idler gear but i don't think it's either one because the belt is in good condition and when the car is off there's no free play or anything. anyone ever have this before? btw it gets louder when you step on the gas but it doesn't go away when it's just idling.

Could be your lash adjusters. If you have been running conventional oil and have a decent numebr of miles on it, they have been known to clog up. I am not sure how good it would work, but you could use a stethoscope and see if you can hear it louder by the valve covers.

I have a small leak on my exhaust that gives off a ticking sound while cold (needs new gasket).

Are you sure you hear it coming from up top? Does it go away when warmed up?

It sounds like the exhaust bolt< cause I had the same sound and went to the service center and I had 2 of them broken and they had to replace the gasket also cause it was leaking and this was just yesterday

Check it out yourself and if that is it, fix it yourself if you can cause I didnt have the time and the service center charged me $437.00 for parts a labour...that really hurt. But if that is the case u wanna get it fixed cause if your manifold is leaking you can burn a valve
