Default 2002 Dakota V6 upgrades

I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab with the 3.9L V6 and auto trans, I am looking for some recommended suggestions to boost the power and performance for it. I'm looking to get in the 200-225 HP range while spending around 3K. I'm thinking on getting new headers, dual exhaust, and a throttle body spacer to start. I am wondering what brands are recommended and from where and what else I can do to gain horsepower.

First TB spacers are garbage. Second, I think a 5.2 or even a 5.9 swap would boost your performance nicely.

You're going to need A LOT of work to get to 225 rwhp. Stock they make 190 if I recall? That's only about 150 at the wheels. You're looking to gain 75 hp.

A lot of work needs to be done to get a 3.9 to that level and it's more economical to just find a 360 IMO.

But if you want to stay with the 3.9 you're going to need boost to gain 75rwhp most likely.

But first do some searching around the forum and FAQ section, there are a ton of topics on this. If you still have questions after we'll be more then happy to help.
