Default A winch or a lift?

Well I prob got all of you guys to think this was for my truck well.... not haha keep on reading. I have a 95 jeep grand cherokee stock for the moment its my woods vehicle right now im in a toss up between a winch or a lift. The winch is a 9,500lb mile marker winch comes with everything and I can get a very very good price on one right now or I can get a 3.5 inch lift with everything I need for about the same price as the winch but the only thing is I only have enough money for one thing so that means if I get a winch I cant get a bumper but I can make my own and weld it but will take me like a month or if I get a lift im stuck with the 225/75's tires that are on the jeep till I get enough money for 33's OPINIONS ARE NEEDED!!! I would post this in the jeep section but often I dont get responses so ill leave it up to you dak guys to help me decide.

If you think this is one time good deal on the winch get it now! There's no shortage of parts out there to lift a jeep, so go for the winch while you can.

Besides, that way if you high center your stock height jeep or get stuck in mud with your street tires, you'll have a way to pull yourself out! :P

that seems like a pretty good deal..

when you're offroad, do you normally go with a friend or two or do some solo trips? If another rig is normally with you, get the lift and reduce the chances of getting stuck/hung up; if youre constantly off road with only one vehicle (being yours) id get the winch.

also, insted of mounting a new bumper- on my friends old blazer, he mounted a towing hitch on the front and welded an adaptor onto the winch, set up wiring for the back and the front. that way, he can remove the winch easily so no one can steal it, and he can use it in the front or back of his truck depending upon how he got stuck & whats around

Really it depends right now i've gone out couple times by myself since I was out scouting for new mud and trails but not only would a winch be used to get me un stuck but I would also use it on our land we have 6 acres at our house and 1,300 at camp so moving trees and other work and I really like the idea of the reciver on the jeep cause I can use it there and also since my truck now has a reciver I can take the winch off and use it on my truck so it will work out for both i think ill most likely go with the winch since I dont know if ill be able to find a deal like that again

Nice project. I would say get the winch. It will help yourself if stuck and anyone that is stuck. Think of all the trucks with lifts and large tires. Have you ever seen someone trying to extract a stuck vechicle using chain or tow rope, they pull and pull and do hard hits to pull it out. That is where the winch will pull out easy!

I waited to long to get mine. I finally got it not to long ago. 10,000lb

You can find great deals on Jeep parts, try www.craigslist.org

Well thats kinda my problem now I can make a bumper(take me awhile), do a hitch but winch will mess up my approch angle since it will stick out kinda far or I was thinking leave the stock metal remove my a/c condensor since I dont need it then get some steel add a long piece on the front and and inside and drill the whole way threw and add some grade 8 bolts then get another piece of steel and bolt it to the top of the bumper then get a mounting plate and bolt/weld it to the top piece of steel. I dont know if you can understand that or not lol if you dont ill do a quick sketch of it.

I would save for a better winch if your getting one of those. You will have problems with it, but maybe you won't But thats something you use as a last resort. I would rather have it work the one time and spend an extra little $$. I personally went with a 9k Superwinch. It's well built, better warranty than warn, and half the price(Of a warn) Quadratech or amazon are good for price wise..

Do your research on the winch. Iv heard of the china ones failing in the simplest places like the free spool lever getting stuck in free spool.

Lift is better! For now that is.
