Default Fan Clutch Going Out?? Help!

So my '99 Dakota is making super loud fan noises and/or squealing especially at higher RPMs. Not a normal belt squeal but maybe a bearing somewhere... I was told this is most likely the fan clutch going out. However, I'd like to be sure before I spend the money to replace it. Also if that is the problem does anyone know how difficult it is to fix? If it's something I need to take to the shop I need to know ASAP because we're taking the truck on a long weekend for the 4th. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!

nice trucks, reg cabs are the only way to go.
first try taking the clutch fan off and see if anything else is making noise.
then if you have the factory e-fan you could leave the clucth one off but it
depends on your truck and climate. alot threads in here about "cluth fan removal".

Thanks man I'll check it out... don't have the E-fan though and its been in the 90's here lately so it's gotta be fixed one way or another. ...I like the red on black too it looks good! I had to laugh my bumper is a mirror image of yours just a little dent on the left side.

yea i guess the past owner didn't know how to tow a trailer. i'd be more worried
about fixing it if i didn't see it on alot of trucks. just ****' me off that ppl think i did that to my truck.

what motor do you have in the dakota btw?

lol, i have a dimple on my left rear as well. I see it on so many trucks, i say ti was a casting issue at dodge, if people ask :P It looks like a golf ball hit it and just barely dented it.

I had some idiot back into me in a parking lot and it wouldn't have dented at all except I had bungees hooked down to the hitch and it pushed the metal hook into the bumper... I put a sticker over the dent and you can barely see it

if you end up wanting a new fan clutch, i'll give you one for shipping. i replaced mine maybe 300 miles before i pulled it out for my E-fan.

I would take you up on that in a heartbeat but I have to have it ready to go by next weekend and I'd be worried about waiting for shipping... thanks for the offer though.
