Why are Toyotas so cheaply made but so expensive to fix?!?!
So yesterday I was driving back from the frisbee golf course with my windows down sitting at a light. I got stung by a bee and rear ended the Toyota MR2 spider in front of me, I had to of let off the brake half way from no more than 3 feet away and she just called and said its a $960 repair? wtf?!?! The two supports for the liscense plate were bent but apperantly there was a scratch or two so shes going to get a new bumper and get in painted and cleared, and she needs two rear grilles. I just dont see how this is possible since I dont have a scratch on my dakota, from her at least.
Oh wow that sucks dude. She needs to get an estimate from a body shop on what REALLY needs to be fixed and how much it will cost. I guess that's just the kind of person that would own a Toyota.
Thats prob about right our 04 jeep grand cherokee was rear ended and for a new bumper and paint it was over a 1,000 and the last time when it needed repainted front being scratched it came out to almost 500.00
im guessing the spider is a kinda sports car. who buys a toyota sports car anyway? more important hows the bee sting lol.
i think your insurance have a right to get an estimate from a moderate shop. or people could get there buddy to jack up the price and keep anything left after the repairs.

And nope... the person who got hit has the right to take their vehicle to any body shop they want to go to. I used to work at one, and insurance has no say in it. Now... insurance companies do have their select shops that they will warrenty the work out from that shop, but you don't have to use those if you don't want to.
And to the OP... unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about her choice in where to get the car fixed. And to answer the title to this thread... cause the moron Toyota owners think their cars are gold and are willing to fork out the money. If people would wake up and see what kind of crap they're driving, they wouldn't pay, and Toyota would be forced to lower their prices.

that seems pretty low to me, i accidently ran into one of those poles at the gas station in my old 94 lebaron, and the shop was just gonna replace the damaged fender with a junkyard one and paint it and i think that was ~900
