4.7 rebuild?
the other day i noticed my oil pressure at idle was way down to nothing and when driving it didnt go up as far as it used to. i got my oil changed and still the same readings. i talked to my mechanic buddy if my oil pump was bad and he said prob not. he said lack of maintainance most likely caused wear on my bearings and that is the cause for my low pressure and small knocks and pings i am hearing. SO..... i am sure the motor will last awhile(knock on wood) but this is my thought. if i can get a 4.7 block, long or short, and rebuild it over the winter and swap it when this one goes, is it worth the money to do so? should i do internal mods while its apart(ie. bore, pistons, cam, etc.). i really dont want to do a hemi swap or bigger motor or anything like that. i dont know what it will cost to rebuild or if i should just get a whole new truck. if i do that it will a 3/4-1 ton diesel. my truck now has 190k miles and i do about 200 miles a day and it idles almost all day(thats why i want a diesel) sorry for the long read. any input will be helpful. thanks folks
