Default Catalytic converter

So in 3 weeks i will have the money to finally get an exhaust put on my truck. I plan on removing my cat before hand then get my exhaust put on. Thankfully we dont have emissions tests in my state so its no problem. What im curious about is sensors. I know ill have to purchase something to make the 02 sensor think the cats still on correct? If so what exactly will i need, i cant seem to find any information online and my dad is under the impression i cannot remove the cat because of the sensor. Which i know he is wrong about because i know people with the same truck with it removed. But he wont believe me untill i show him. Anyways i have a 1999 dakota ext cab. Factory motor was a 318 but someone put a 360 out of an r/t in it. If someone could point me towards a link or give me some info of what to purchase i would be grateful.

the rear O2 is only to read the cat, my cat is gone and it hasnt thrown the code in 10000 miles go figure, but what you need is an O2 simulator to tell the computer that the cat is there and working they are about $70

If you have a tuner such as an SCT they can be turned off in the tune.

You could also have 2 bungs welded into the pipe for the 2 upstream sensors . and then the 2 downstream ones can be zipstripped to the frame as long as the downstreams get a different reading than the upstreams they won't throw any codes.

I was thinking the spacer method myself. Because 02's still won't activate until they get to 600 degrees F.

First, are you going to run true duals, or do a Y pipe setup? Then I can tell you what to do.

I wouldn't bother removing the cats I have seen cars dynod both with them on and off and the catted cars always have more power. Engines today are built to best preform with cats and removing them lowers some power only about 2hp but its also better for the environment and you'll have more power. Just saying its not worth it in my opinion. You could always go with high flow cats.
