Default Which throttle body fits on 2k dakota 3.9?

I can't remember which ram has the one that will fit a dakota and give more airflow. Also If I get one can I just bolt it on with no extra work?

5.2, 5.9 will fit from any ram/dakota/durango. Direct bolt on, you'll need the throttle cable. The 3.9 TB has a ball joint for the throttle pedal, the 5.2/5.9 uses a clip style. Took me 15 minutes to do the change with simple hand tools.

the 4.7 is COMPLETELY different. The 3.7 is also different, IIRC. But ALL 5.2 and 5.9 will bolt to the 3.9. Like i said, took me 15 minutes max, including cable and sensor swap. I took pics, hang on a sec and I'll post the link.

Keep in mind, I ground the H3|| out of mine. That actually isn't neccesary, it was an experiment based on educated guess. The pictures there are of the 5.2/5.9 Throttle Body. The 3.9 looks EXACTLY the same, except the bores are smaller. Bolt pattern is the same.

I did it, because my truck has 125K on it, and I'm slowly doing the scheduled maintanence that probably hasn't ever been done on it. So I splurged, and got the $100 MAP sensor. You don't have to, but I figured I might as well. I probably would have been just fine with the origional one. Just a warning when taking it off, it's a formed vacuum hose, so it wouldn't be good to break it. I just used a tiny flathead, and slowly worked it loose from the nipple on the TB.

I found one from a 2001 ram 5.2 for 26 bucks at a local parts recycler, it should fit right? aren't there different years that have different linkage, is there particular years that fit the gen 2 Dakota?

The 318(5.2)/360(5.9) has been made since the 70's, albeit with carburetors, that I know of (I don't think the block/cylinder head design has ever been changed). The 3.9 is just a 5.2 missing 2 cylinders. Everything exchanges between V6 and V8 short of the camshaft, heads, and intake, even from way back when, Everything else (for the most part) is interchangable between them, including the rocker arms off of the Viper V10's and old-skool racing 360's IIRC.

When you get the V8 TB, you WILL need the Throttle Cable to fit it. The V6 uses a Ball Joint connection, the V8 uses a Clip-on Style connection.
