Handy...
Yea, here and I were talking about it today...
I've already removed the guard for now. I was looking at options for the grille... thinking about just using some mesh behind the exist grille, or removing the existing grill entirely.

but I like the gutter mesh idea, thanks!

I'll be filling the tank sometime today or tomorrow, and hopefully we'll see at least a minor improvement on cool air.
with the added cool air coming in, I expect there should be a marked performance increase as far as fuel economy making wifey happy, and me looking like a hero... which makes me happy

Even a 10km (~6 mile) improvement over the whole tank would be something decent as far as I'm concerned. Any improvement is good.

As a note,

here's one of the DIY links for the grille inserts, it's for a 1500, but still same idea.

I removed mine and cut the cross bar out of the grill. then it still looked like it was getting hot air from motor so I put heat shield in (it just happened to fall off of wife's van).

If you didnt already replace your plugs, wires, rotor and cap mine were really bad I gained 30mi on a tank. Plugs are supposed to be a like.040 and mine were like .050-.060

Can you take a pic of where you ran the heat shield? Just curious as I am considering ideas for when I replace my CAI with a DIY.

I don't have a gap gauge, any suggestions on type to pick up? leaf or the disc style? Does it matter as long as it's accurate?

i forgot to mention i had the mesh grille, it should keep out anything larger then a pea. i also painted mine black after a while cause i got sick of the bare metal.

i made my own intake with a heat box, made a thread like a week ago. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...hield-box.html

Any of them will do the trick. Just pick up what you can find. The circular one should be had for around $1.

That is another idea worth pursuing to try and get more cool air to the intake.

I'm also thinking about wrapping as many heat sources as possible. Such as wrapping the exhaust manifold and the radiator and heater lines.

When I changed mine the other day, they were over .090 !! I definitely went too long.
